Insights · Next day in Cappadocia
Hundreds of hot air balloons rise into the sky as the sun comes up. Below them, the valleys with their strange rocks take on a pink and golden light. Cappadocia is perhaps the most cinematic destination for a next day photo shoot.
In this article we show you Cappadocia through the shoot of Konstantinos and Katerina: the balloons, a classic car, the valleys, the white canyons and the caves. And we tell you what you need to know if you dream of something similar.

Why Cappadocia
Cappadocia, in the heart of Turkey, is a landscape that seems to come out of a fairy tale. Volcanic rocks in shapes that nature has carved over thousands of years, homes and churches cut into the stone, valleys that change colour through the day.
For a couple, this means a variety you rarely find in a single destination: within a few kilometres you have a sky full of balloons, wild landscapes, white canyons and warm, traditional interiors.
Sunrise with the balloons
The reason most couples wake up before the sun. The balloons are inflated while it is still dark and, as soon as day breaks, they rise one by one above the valleys. It is a few minutes of magic unlike anything else.

The light at that hour is soft and warm. We work quickly but calmly, so that you enjoy the moment and do not feel that you are posing.

Balloon flights depend on the weather and are confirmed each morning. That is why we suggest you have at least two mornings available in the area.
A classic car among the balloons
With Konstantinos and Katerina we wanted something more than the balloons. A red classic car gave the images a retro, cinematic feel, like a scene from a road movie.

The valleys and the fairy chimneys
Once the balloons have landed, Cappadocia shows its other face. The tall, conical rocks that locals call “fairy chimneys”, the dry grasses and the deep blue sky make images that are strong and simple.

White canyons and caves
Inside the canyons the rock is almost white and works like a huge reflector. The light falls softly on the wedding dress, even when the sun is high.

The caves that people carved into the stone have their own arches and openings. There the light comes in from one side only, and the images become quieter, almost painterly.

Carpets, clay jars and colour
Cappadocia is famous for its handmade carpets. Among piles of rugs and clay jars, the white of the wedding dress stands out in a rich, warm setting.

How a next day in Cappadocia is organised
- Combine it with your honeymoon. The shoot usually takes place in the first days of the trip, so that you can enjoy your holiday afterwards.
- Keep two mornings free. If the weather does not allow the balloons on the first morning, we have a second chance.
- Be ready for cool mornings. Even in summer it is cold before sunrise. A coat for the moments between shots helps a lot.
- Comfortable shoes for the paths. In the valleys and canyons we walk on earth and stone. The wedding shoes go on only for the photos.
- We plan the route together. Before the trip we choose the spots and their order, depending on the light and what moves you.
